The “Flat Wound” model was listened to en route to this wide-range model. Over the years, of course, the name Acme Sound has been associated with a full range, low coloration sound, and the traditional Acme Low B models are not in need of improvement, but the advent of neodymium has made it possible to approach the sound of these classic systems at a lighter weight, which everybody wants.
The enclosure is the same as the “Flat Wound” cab, and the woofer motor is identical as well. All of the descriptions of the bass performance of the “Flat Wound” model apply to the Full Range System.
But that’s what it is. A full-range system. The woofer used in the “Flat Wound” system has been slightly modified to smooth the top end, and a textile dome tweeter, similar to the tweeter used in the classic Low B systems, extends the high end to the limits of audibility.
